The real charm of the beautiful monument of love, Taj Mahal brightens up during the annual celebrations of the Taj Mahotsava. This is the time when the amazing city of Agra become a hub of several travelers who come here to watch this spectacular festival.

Taj Mahotsava started in 1992, is a ten day fest that celebrates the Indian art and craft traditions. This year Taj Mahotsava will begin today, that is from 18th Feburary and will last till 27th Feburary. Starting with the theme of Jashne-E-Virasat (or Celebrating the heritage). This year the fest is going to very fun filled and interesting. Organized by the state government along with initiation of the Uttar Pradesh tourism, Taj Mahotsava in todays time has become a major tourist attraction of this city. Every year thousands of visitors come to Shilpgram ( located near Taj Mahal) to witness the exquisite art traditions of Indian craftsmen and artisans.

Apart from promoting tourism, the chief objective of Taj Mahotsava is to bring forward, the hidden talent of the skilled artisans of this country and to promote their art at world level. With each passing year more and more craftsmen are coming to this fest to showcase their exclusive expertise. Even the tourists get the opportunity to purchase their impressive handicraft items.

Once you are done with your shopping, just rush to the nearby food stalls to relax your appetite. Try the delicious local food to tickle your taste bud and to experiment with your taste.

Entry and Tickets:
For foreign Tourists the entry to Taj Mahotsava is free.

For Adult: The entry ticket is for Rs 20.

For Children (5-12 years): The entry ticket is for rs 10 and for Children below 5 years it is free.

How to reach:
By road: Agra is very well connected to all the major Indian cities by the road network.

By Rail: The nearest railway station is the Agra Cantt. And one use the Indian railways to reach here.

By Air: One can also take the air route to reach Agra.

So come to Agra during the Taj Mahotsava to see the new colors of this majestic monument of eternal love.

Hi there!
I always wanted to experience the Taj Mahotsava.
Near my Buenos Aires apartments there is a nice Indian restaurant and they told me about last year's celebration.
