Cricket World Cup - 2011- Venues In Sri Lanka

Prepare yourself to cheer up for your favorite team in this world. As the time is nearing for the biggest excitement of this year, everybody is bracing up themselves for this big fight. All the teams are ready along with the venues where this battle will be fought.

Sri Lanka is hosting 2011 cricket world cup along with India and Bangladesh and according to Haroon Logart all the stadiums are 'ready to go.' Total 12 matches have been scheduled in Sri Lanka for this world cup, that will be played in Colombo, Kandy and Hambantota. These cities are quite popular and are also a major tourist destinations of this country.

Colombo is a beautiful city and is also the capital of Sri Lanka. R Premadas stadium is the venue where this year world cup matches will played in this city. Apart from cricket frenzy fans this city also has some really amazing places where you can visit after the matches. National Zoological Garden, Gangaramaya Buddhist Temple, Colombo National Museum, Green Path, Pettah( famous for shopping), Wolvendaal Church are some of the most visited attractions of this city.

Pallekele Cricket Stadium ( located in Kandy) is a new venue that has been recently added in the list of international stadiums. It is also known as the Muttiah Muralitharan International Cricket Stadium named after the famous cricket legend of this country. Kandy is also called the hill city of Sri Lanka and is known for its beautiful and lush green hills. Here you can see places like the Temple of Tooth, Royal Botanical Garden, Lankatilaka temple, Udawatta Forest, Pinnawela Elephant Orphanage and many other places.

Suriyawewa Stadium situated in the Lankan city of Hambantota is the next venue of the world cup matches. This beautiful town will surely mesmerize the travelers with its magical charm. The matches that will be played in this town will also help in promoting tourism here. Bundala National park, Kataragama( a famous Buddhists Pilgrimage place), 2nd century B.C ,Mulkirigala Rock Monastery, Sithulpawwa rock temple are few of the destinations where one can visit.
